Veterans, PTSD and Weed 4 Warriors With Kevin Richardson

Ryan Hunt talks with former Marine Kevin Richardson, President of the Weed 4 Warriors Project. Richardson was in the Marines training when 9/11 happened. He was among the first soldiers who went to the Middle East. The two discuss the impact of PTSD suffered by veterans. Richardson suffered but did not want to get treatment as it would impact his opportunities to find work – especially if he wanted to become a police officer. His manifestation of severe PTSD scared his family, self medicating with alcohol and being held in a psychiatric facility. The 22 veterans committing suicide numbers could be low Richardson noted, as they are numbers of soldiers registered at the VA.
