United Nations Testimony on Drugs & Crime
NEW YORK, New York – The United Nations General Assembly Special Session on Drugs and Crime took place April 19-21, 2016. Member states discussed the Outcome Document that had been worked out previously in Vienna, Austria.
Topics included in the discussions were the legalization of cannabis in certain states in the US and the country of Uruguay, the emergence of new psychotropic substances (NPS) or “designer drugs” that easily evade regulation, and the use of the death penalty in some countries for drug-related crimes.
Cannabis Radio attended two roundtable sessions where delegates from member states addressed these topics. (In some cases, the voice will be that of a UN translator.)
